What a day!!!!

Not much to go on about today, or I should say I could tell you a earfull, but I won't complain about the PO anymore. We were forced into mandatory overtime again today, so I didn't make it to the clinic. Instead I had to trudge about with an extra hour and a half worth of mail at 6pm. I have a problem with delivering mail at supper time, most people have already put in a full days graft, and the last thing they want to see is some smelly old postman wobbling up the garden path with a bill from the gasman, or the phone company. I think that all mail should be delivered by 4.30pm at the very latest, so that we can be off the streets when all the cranky office workers come home.
Last week I had my second genetics exam, and it was a sphincter tingler. I sat in the room for three hours trying to figure out what genes little Debbie would inherit from her deranged great grandmother, and her inbred half uncle. I answered every question and can honestly say that I have no idea if they were right or wrong, but they were definately answered. Tomorrow we should all know the results. It doesn't help much that we have to perform a lab procedure for an hour before the exam kicks off. I think that is an evil twisted scheme to free our minds of all that we have crammed into them beforehand.
I had a lovely weekend, nothing to study for, no papers to write, it was bliss. However in looking at the schedule for the next 5 weeks, I think I will be well occupied and buried in the books. At this moment as I write I am clinging onto an A in genetics, I am one of only two in the class, but after tomorrow I may be embracing a D and looking longingly at a C, and only dreaming of a B.....
I am too tired to write anything funny so I will bloody well just bugger off.....adidas

I am knackered.....

Well then...my new route is on the go, started today, and I shall bloody well cocoa if I am not ready for the knackers yard. It rained like a big one today, I was soaked right through to my Y-fronts, and beyond. I think I walked about twenty miles in my attempt to deliver the mail to all the folks in my little village. Funny but I didn't hear any dogs out today barking at me, I wonder why....? The new route isn't too bad, except it is longer than my last one. I can see that I will have to run and skip my lunch on school days to get there on time, but that's not new, I can deal with it. I didn't know what it would be until today, because nobody downtown could be bothered to tell us what they had come up with for the "new" Britton Rd. So I said goodbye to all my business deliveries Thursday, on the nod from the supervisor that I would not be delivering them anymore after Friday. I got teary cards from a couple of secretaries, and a few, "we'll miss you Tony, you are the best mailman we have ever had....sob!" One even said, "tell us where your new route will be and we will move our business there", it was indeed a sad day, and I told them all I would miss them. This carried on into Friday, as I informed more of my customers that I was being forced on to greener pastures, all due to the PO and it's idiotic ideas. Then I find out today that I am still delivering to all my businesses plus a bunch more walking. I will have to return the cards on Monday, and let them know that they will have to look at my big fat head a little longer.
Pretty boring day really, I expect it was due to all the rain. Considering we haven't had rain for 6 months though I thought a lot more people would be out relishing the wetness of it. I am off now to lighten the weight of a big bottle of wine, I have to do my bit for the environment, and recycling empty bottles is an honorable task that I will endevour to exceed at.
Nos da, and down the hatch....burp, hic!

Back in the saddle again........groan!!!!!

I went back to work today, after a week of hiatus from the PO. I felt completely relaxed during my time off, no headaches, back pains, butt pains, or stress. After being in the place for just 10 minutes I was aching all over.....My neighbor Suzie stopped by to see me first, saying, "well I suppose you have seen the mess they are fixing to shovel on us soon?" To which I replied, "what mess?" She then proceeded to tell me all about the results of the route inspection, and the great plan for the new Britton PO. Imagine if you will, a room full of higher ups in the PO, all bent over a table trying to rearrange a map of Nichols Hills, and a 2 mile wide stretch of OKC from Broadway Extension to Meridian, and none of them have ever stepped onto the street to carry mail. What we have is a failure to communicate....and a great big pile of pooh, known as a mess at the PO. Everyone's route has been altered, some, though only some, for the better, the rest are in chaos. I have gained the extra twenty minutes they said I was short, only it is in the form of 4 extra miles of walking. Now if I was to walk 4 miles in twenty minutes, I think the Olympic committee would have snagged me up years ago, rammed a pair of shorts on my arse, and sent me off to win gold in some distant land. I told the boss that I was 6 weeks away from graduation, after 5 years of killing myself with work and school, and then they cram this on me. I will be out delivering mail until 7 pm every night, and my classes start at 5.30........I know, I am just a big baby and I should suck it up, but I am miffed....and pissed off! Bloody Post Office!

On a lighter note, the weather is gorgeous, and I got my blood drawn last night to have it titered for all my antibodies. Not everyone's idea of bliss I agree, but I was worried about it because I cannot find my shot records from way back in my childhood. I was a rover you see as a child, due to my dad's agreement with the Queen of Britain to protect the commonwealth of the UK, formerly known as an empire. So somewhere in Germany, Scotland, England, and Wales is a list of what needles, filled with what venom, were jammed into my teeny little baby arse to protect me from the diseases of mankind. I am covered for TB due to a positive test at the Integris volunteer department acouple of years ago. I told the supervisor at the PO I had tested positive for TB and he flipped out. I was told to go home, stay away from any of the employees, and the next day a doctor was brought in to educate my fellow workers about the risks involved in associating with me.
"If any of you have been near the person who we cannot name, due to the new HIPPA rules, and who is not present among us today, may God have mercy on your soul, and may the purge of the tubercoli strike you down with speed, so that you may not suffer, and pray once more to God that it does so on your day off, so that we will not have to cover your route and pay overtime."
That may not be the exact words used by the doctor, but I bet it was close. The reason I tested positive was because in Wales all the young kids, aged 14, were given a vaccine against consumption, so the antibodoies are in my system, showing up positive on a test, duh! I pretty much told the PO doctor that he was a dipshit, and he agreed that he may have overreacted a little, and he didn't argue against the dipshit allegation.
Anyway, by next Monday I should have proof of my blood antibodies, as I am sure I have had all the shots, the British Army loves to stick little pins, into little children, as often as they can. And hopefully I will not have to go through all the shots again, which is the only way I would be allowed into PA school.
Okay no more talk about the PO. I am currently attempting to beautify and fix up my basement. I want to turn it into a gym. The only problem is that even though it is quite large, it is crammed full of air conditioning/heater pipes. I have managed to wiggle out about twenty square feet of space to put in my exercise bike, weights, punchbag, and floormat. But it looks like the only exercise I will get is moving things around so that I can work out on one particular object. We have this great big monstrosity of a concrete sink down there, that must have been made inj the basement, because there is no way anyone could have carried it down there. It weighs aton or two, and My nephew and I tried to move it, but could only lift it up about three inches off the stand. So that thing takes up a lot of space, then there is the washing machine, and the boiler, oh, plus the water heater. It is hardly Gold's Gym, more like a room at the bottom of the Titanic. I haven't seen a single spider down there since I have been working on it. Seen a few exoskeletons, and billions of webs, ebough to give me the constant eeby-geebies, and the occassional Jimmy-spine, when I think about them.
Okay I will try to add another poll this week....let me see, what can this one be about..........

I'm back baaaaaaaabbbbbyyyy!

I run my first run this year up at the lake yesterday. I haven't been able to run much, if at all since Jan 11th, because of a gimp foot. I know that the doctor told me I was a malingerer but there really was something wrong with it. Anyway I ran a 5k and came in 3rd in my age group, so I am going to strat back training for the half-marathon at the end of April. I reckon I can run 13 miles, even on a gammy foot. My prize for my efforts was a coffee cup from Panera Bread, and a coupon for 2 free cups of coffee. The next run I will be able to do is on April 1st at the OUHSC, then the Redbud Classic a week later.
Lovely weather we are having in our neck of the woods, frighteningly warm, there must be some brown stuff dangling close to the oscillator, ready to drop at any minute. We didn't have any tornadoe's last year in the metro area, so the weather men are looking for any signs of excitement this year. They have been breaking into TV shows all week telling us, "nothing for you to worry about, but we see a cloud in Kansas that has the possibility of turning into a bigger cloud, and if our assumptions are correct this could then turn into the mother of all storms. So be it known that we at channel 5 are here to save your lives, and you will bloody well owe us big time afterwards," or something like that.
Spring break is here, no school, but I have to study for a genetics exam that will be thrust upon us immediately after spring break. Nice job by the teacher! I am trying to figure out pedigrees at the moment, talk about difficult, or maybe I am just stupid?
I will bore you all no longer, adidas, and g'day

Test in Cell Bio

Today was the test that I studied for all week and I reckon I did okay. I was actually surprised by how much I knew and how little I had to guess, so "slap" on the back for me, hurrah!
My flies are going back to the lab today, I only managed to wrangle a measley 12 "good" ones, with 2 hanging on for dear life. Maybe the brand of mashed potato I used as food wasn't right for them. Perhaps I should have put in some gravy and a pork fillet, or even some desert, and a glass of wine. I just hope that the rest of my group has done a damn sight better job than yours truly.
Spring break next week, it will be nice not to have to drive up to school through the Edmond traffic.......mini-vans are everywhere in this hell hole, and they are driven by maniacs and soccer moms, all on the telephone, no doubt plugging in a DVD for their fat little kids too, who are lolling about in the back seat, like gigantic tubs of lard. If, well I will say no more..............
As you can see I have not been at the PO this week, that's why I am in such a jovial mood (maybe you can't see that bit). I will be back at work next Tuesday, and then the bad mood and the "woe is me" attitude will return.
I see in the news that the UAE has backed down from the port deal in the USA. I can't blame them, we weren't exactly putting out the welcome mat for them, and popping on the kettle for a cup of tea. Was it the right decision? For them, Yes, for us, maybe, in my humble and lowly opinion.
Iran is rattling the cage and threatening the USA with all sorts of unseemly doings. "We will ram a jacksi up your arse," I thought I heard one of them say, but I could be mistaken. They have been ranting and raving for ever about the harm they will inflict on us, in the US. They even went so far as to say, "let the ball roll." In the context of, 'you grab a hold of our knackers, mr big American type hoosbah, and we will jam a load on you, and ground your big cowboy head into the hudson bay." It's only a little ball, judging by what they are really capable of, but they are a threat to our early morning cups of tea and toast and marmalade.
I'm off, genetics is calling, and my flies are cold sitting out in the car, the MB, aren't they posh.

The Paseo

Boy it was busy up there last night, I didn't get to visit all the studios this time, and schmooze all the free wine, but I did have more than my fair share. My missus invited people back to our house after it was over, so we were up late, apparently I fell asleep.
This morning we met my nephew and his bride-to-be up at Wills for soem breakfast. Shaespeare man was there, reading a book at a table all on his lonesome. My wife listened in on one of his converstaions to his butty one time, she said it was a hoot. He is quite a character, and the moniker we give him will give away his appearance if you ever see him.
Not much going on otherwise. I have finished my English class and we are halfway through genetics and cell biology, roll on May.....My flies are not doing too good, one of the bottles hasn't even hatched a single fruit fly yet. The other has about 20 in it, so I am going to let them breed until Monday then start collecting the virgins. There will probably be a huge report due on this, and I am not exactly sure what I am doing, so it will be tough to write it down.
Got a letter fro the PA school telling us to come to the "meet your classmate reception" on May 20th, plus we have to pick a mentor.
Oh well I am off before I bore you all some more.........

Flies!!!!!

Another week almost over. I have not had time to sit down much at the computer until today. Yesterday at genetics we were told that we have to bring a couple of bottles of wmf flies home with us and collect virgin females all week. Every 8 hours we have to trap the adults, sex them, see if they are virgins and then kill the males and keep the females alive in a separate tube. It's like having a baby again, well not actually having the baby, but looking after it, except that if I just checked on a baby every 8 hours it wouldn't be a healthy baby, so I guess it is nothing like having a baby.
Beautiful weather this week, we broke a record on Wednesday hitting 92 degrees, IN MARCH! Too hot for my liking though, especially this early on in the year. Work is bareable, i only got mandatoried twice this week. But the shit is dangling awfully close to that fan, it could fall any minute........
First Friday on the Paseo tonight, should be a blast. I have invited some friends out hopefully they will make it.
Well i have to go and manipulate my flies, double entendres abound in this genetics class.
