Conming to the end of an era

Well, I have graduated and passed the board exam....spent 3 days between taking the exam and finding out I had passed with the most awful sphincter spasms and chest pain...high anxiety and diarrhea similar to one of those mud-slides you see on TV from South America....washing people and houses away as it shoots down the side of a mountain. All I am waiting on now is a temporary license to practice so that I can start work on January 1st.....Oh yeah, I have a job working in cardiology here in the city. My era of being a full time student is over....time to start working on erasing the memory of it now.....Not going to say bad things about PA school and faculty, but if I have to see any one of them again before I die, it will be too soon.

Christmas 2009 will be remembered for the worse snow storm in decades....14 inches of snow and cars and people stranded all over the state on Christmas Eve. I have spent the past 2 days shoveling snow, my arse is sore and my back is in half.....The missus and I went down to the Kovash's house and helped them clear their drive today.....still snow all over the shop and the emergency routes are some of the worse...it looks like the snow plows haven't even been near them. It'll all be a memory soon though, for some.....most of us will forget it and swear the next time we have an inch of snow that it is the worse we have ever seen in the state....

My mam and Tom came to visit for my graduation and for Thanksgiving...it was great to see them and they looked healthy.....I will always be thankful that they got to be at the ceremony, top notch it was, even had some geezer put a hood on me. The missus threw me a surprise party the next night, I thought I was going to an art opening, walked in the door and al my mates were there.....I was gobsmacked and probably looked a little pissed off....wasn't, it was the best.

Just killing time now before starting the new chapter of my life....hopefully I can live up to the expectations of me...I seem to be on celebrity status with the company hiring me and the doctor.....I know I can work hard, and take care of patients, but am I smart enough....we'll have to see

Will try to update more......promise!!!

Already 6 months gone.....

Time is flying by on rotations, I will have to try and keep this blog up to date because I have seen and done so much stuff, plus I have ballsed up a few times, nothing too bad, no lives lost....hallelujah.
I am coming to the end of a two month primary care in Chickasha..it has been fun and very relaxed with my old pal Lee there, he has made it easy for me. I still can't believe it is 6 months to graduation...I hope I can frickin' make it through. I have 2 months at the OKC trauma center coming up, so I should have some meaty stuff to add to the blog, maybe even the odd laugh.
Not much going on in the other world in which I live...I have become a member of Facebook and it occupies too much of my time, but it is fun, and I enjoy riling a few of my friends on there, they give back as good as I can give them, which makes it even more of a laugh.
My mam is supposed to be coming over in November, haven't seen her for almost 7 years, it will be nice, and hopefully I will be abel to see more of her after school is done. I have been a student for seven and a half years now, if I had robbed a bank, I'd probably be out already, plus got an education for free on the inside.
Well i will end here and continue studying hematology and infectious disease....yeah!!!

In between

Here I am at long last, almost about to go out on rotations...yep I finally passed the final exams and I am being released into the world of patients...scary eh? For all of you out there, and me.
Saw the last of my class chums this past Monday, after a hell on earth Lab Med exam, I have a flag football game this coming Sunday, then that's it until the end of every month when we all meet up for an exam.
Not much to report at the moment, I had a hard time getting back on here, so this is really just a test so I'll add more later......

Saturday.......

Today I got to go to the Family Med Center and prod about in a rather special place practicing a pelvic exam. The whole process wasn't made any easier by the fact that a faculty member was standing there watching me, but I must say the faculty member was suprisingly nice to me and helped me obs and gobs, even though I was nervous and my hands were soaked with sweat, so much so that I had a hard time getting my gloves on. I found the cervix with minimum problems and even did a bi-manual exam and found the ovaries, they felt like wads of chewing gum.
After that palava I came home and took girl to the rink and then me and the missus went to Cafe Brazil for a fancy breakfast....it was good, and the service was a million times better than last time, so I ranked it as a 4 out of 10. The missus and me went to the farmers market after and she bought some plants and some bee pollen. Then we swent to an office supply store to check out the price of MS word and all that bejizzmo stuff.......I almost popped out a hemorrhoid when I saw the price at $159, it was only due to my double chin that my jaw didn't hit the ground. So I came home and we did some thinking and I figured I would e-mail some friends and ask if they have any extra activations left on their CD's and lo and behold I hit the jackpot. Another faculty member came up with the goods and after an afternoon of studying and a quick nap, we took off for Edmond to pick it up. We stopped off at the liquor store first to buy a "thank you" bottle of wine, a bo-jolly, one of our favorites.
After dropping off the wine and picking up the CD we took off for the other side of town to a party we had been invited to. We went through the countryside and even saw some cows, and wheat field, it was the best summer vacation we have had in years. We got lost trying to find our friends home so called for directions, Susie didn't know how to guide us to her house so we winged it while she was on the phone, turned out we were only a block away, and she's a maillady????????
Great party, made some friends, and drank some wine, and we were home by 9.30........talk about old farts!!!!!!!
Tonight my MS office is loaded and I am sipping more wine, while I watch an old film on TCM and enjoy my wife's company....life is good.

Good night sweetheart, it's time to go....ba-do-be-doo

Good Grief

....Where have I been? I'd like to say that I have been somewhere really exciting and done some shit hot and cheeky things, but I haven't, I have been in PA school doing my best to balls everything up, and I did a pretty good job of it, I must say.

I threw a elephant sized bollock into the works last year after completing my 17 months of PA school, by failing neuroanatomy. I received a letter telling me that I had to repeat the year coming up again, or more precisely the timespan from mid-January to the end of October 2008, then, and only then, if I passed my classes, I could go out on rotations. So here I am in mid to almost the end of May and happy to say that I am passing all my classes, although one of them was by the width of a dissected pube. Nevertheless, as Newmann would say, I am trudging along.

As for the rest of my life, outside of PA school, it is dandiferous. Me and the missus are having a ball (more often than not), it must be my innocent student status that turns her on. We are making time 99% of the time, to complete a crossword a day together, sometimes 2, especially if they are easy ones. We haven't been anywhere due to my schooling activities, but we enjoy each others company, so I imagine we'd be happy sitting in a dung heap sipping tea and scoffing on a rather large piece of pie.

Last year I bought her a laptop, and she has taken to it like a fourth chin on Oprah Winfrey. She has set up her own Etsy shop and is flogging her stuff like crazy. Obviously she knows more about computers than I do. Speaking of which, my laptop took a turn for the worse this past Memorial weekend, I downloaded some type of virus, something called windows antivirus 2008, and let me tell you, it is Fawful and Funasty. I can't do knacker all on it. My next door neighbour is Asian and well up on all the techno stuff, so I asked him to come and give it a looksy tonight. He brought over some little white box type gizmo and plugged it into my laptop, then he told me to copy this, delete that, move this there and get rid of that over there and he will be back after his daughter's graduation to check on me. So far I have done 3 of the 4 things but nothing has changed on my computer. He must have a great deal of faith in me or has already consumed copious amounts of home made beer, and has no clue that he is even helping me. If nothing changes by tomorrow, I may have to fork out some money to get it fixed, that's a bummer.

There has been too much going on in the past 2 years to even think of writing down here, so I will just pick up as though I have never gone away. We will start with this scenario;
I am in PA school, doing well, more happily married than anyone with my looks ever deserves, and having more rumpy-pumpy than John Holmes had on a good day. My daughter is 16, and that's about all that needs to be said on that subject. I have a good car for the first time in my life, that is actually younger than a few of my pairs of underpants in the tallboy, and probably in better shape than. I have 1 dog, numerous cats, and nothing else to feed. My street is quiet, my neighbours are nice, I go to church every week, and I haven't been arrested for anything at all. I will add that I am now a US citizen, and one day I will tell the story about that day.

So there we have it, all in all not much to write home about, and I bet you are asking yourself, if you are even reading this, what the f*$k, why is he even writing this shit. Well the plain and simply truth is, I am, so there.

So as they say in Wales,
I'll be back mun, me, issit

Feeling like crap

My brain hurts……

Woke up this morning with a raging head cold, my doze is all blocked up, and I feel like shinola. I got my daps on and went for a run to try and clear my head, but I had to come home after a couple of miles, I just wasn’t in the mood for running. I sat and stared for about 15 minutes after I got in, too tired to move. It’s about 6.30 pm now and I still feel rotten, I was going to run a 5K in the morning but I reckon I’ll give it a miss, watch the England game on TV instead.

I haven’t done too much today, but take it easy, and have a nap. Yesterday I took my Environmental Bio exam at UCO. It was a tart of a test, if I had read the text book 3 times and absorbed the majority of it I reckon I could have got a 100 on the exam. Seeing as I read the book once and absorbed very little I am sitting on the skin of my pants waiting for the result to see if I passed, and can therefore graduate from the place. All a little anticlimactic don’t you think, I am glad I didn’t go to the grad ceremony in May.
I have been thinking about all the things I miss and don’t miss at the PO lately, especially in the warm weather. Here is my list of things I don’t miss:
Dogs
Shit covered soles on my shoes
Hot sweaty weather
Leaf blowers, and the people who use them
Yard jockeys, the type who pull up and start cutting grass as you get to the street.
Traffic
Idiocy on the highest level, and the lowest
Polyester pants
Thigh rubs and red blotches
A sore back, and leg, and foot, etc

Here are some of the things I do miss:

People
FriendsUmmmmmm?

Running again

I thought I would try out this new font just to see if it works on the blog. It is a Da Vinci font, and I know that he is awfully popular at the moment, what with the book and all that. It doesn’t seem to be that great on the Microsoft word as I type but we’ll see what it does when I switch it over to the blog.

Okay, today I ran for the first time in over 2 weeks, I yanked a hamstring and have been taking it easy trying to let it repair itself. It has been very hard to lay off it, but I did manage to ride my bike about thirteen miles or so a couple of times, so I haven’t turned into a blob.
Went to Arlington this weekend to compete in the games there, I took 1st place in the 2/4 march section with the tune “Atholl and Breadlebane Gathering”, first time I have ever taken 1st place so I am beside myself. I played a 6/8 tune as well but it was awful, I messed up a few times just in the first part. The tune was “Daft Donald”, should have been “Arse-hole Anthony”, or “Tit-headed Tony”, that’s how bad I played. My friend Doug took 3rd in that section, so we had a good weekend there.
I was completely knackered when I got home, but managed to stay up and drink 2 bottles of red plonk, and watch a film with the missus J
Only 3 weeks away from starting PA school, and I am getting excited and nervous at the same time. It’ll be a big change from working every day, but I think I can deal with it J.
On Friday night my wee one was hired (unpaid, of course) to work as a magician’s sidekick on the Paseo. She was the one to be cut in half, and it was a great performance, they did the show 5 times to about 50 or more people. The best thing was that she loved doing it, and everyone who saw the show loved watching it. I am proud of the daft ha’peth.
Well I shall go and see what this looks like on the blog,
Aurevoire

As you can see the font didn't transfer.
